Berg grooved venturis

Hi all
After some opinions/feedback. What’s people’s thoughts on the Berg grooved vents? Toying with getting some for my IDA’s but they’re fairly pricey so want some feed back before I splash out. They would be going in my 2276 which has an FK10, 42x37.5 044’s And IDA’s with 38mm vents
Cheers
Karl

I installed a set of the 37/42mm grooved venturis on my '67 and I'm pretty pleased with the results so far. I had to go way up on the air correctors and I'm still dialing it in but it's getting close. The engine seems to have a much wider powerband now.

Best money spent. Lot wider power band for sure.

It's a 2332 with 44x37 Jeff Denham heads, 9.5 to 1 compression, the cam is Web cam with .498 lift and 312 duration, 48 IDA's, 1.75" merged exhaust.

If you contact Bergs and send them your specs they will be able to assist. Thats what I did when I bought mine.

Hi everyone,
I just got a set of 37/42 grooved venturies. Currently running 40 raptor venturies, I was curious to see if Berg's venturies would behave differently.
Now my question. The grooved venturies come with some pointed plugs that need to be fitted in the carb body in order to hold the OEM aux. venturies in place. I know that the tap is 1/8NPT but what is the best was to get the OEM (brass?) plug out ?
If some of you guys have a real life comparison between raptor venturies and Berg's for a street (non racer) bug, that would be really interesting !

There is one thing that makes JPMs flow better than Berg
One has a thing that sits over the Venturis the other doesn't use it

Hi Micke,
I am quite happy with my raptor venturies and for full throttle they are probably the best but for lower rpm’s and not full throttle I am very interested in reading if the berg concept is more drivable and gives more low end capacity.
Any idea as to how you get these plugs out? I was thinking about drilling while increasing the drill diameter and then pry out what is left of the plug.

Just use a 1/8" flat punch and knock it out from the inside.

Does anyone have any experience with the IDF version of the grooved venturis from Berg? Are they worth the investment?

I ended up going from original 37’s to 35/39 sizing as per bergs recommendation. Fitted, tuned and it went slower 😐 Drove nice on the street but was slower on the track. Put some regular 40mm vents in and the 1/4 mile performance improve massively. And it’s still an alright drive 🤷🏻

That 35/39 size is pretty odd, even by Berg standards, as the 35 is such a significant restriction for the 48mm throttle plate while the 39 isn't really much bigger than it. I'd shy away from those and try 37/42, or if you're happy with the straight 40mm compromise, just stick there.

My car is what it is, maybe not Cal Look per the books, but it's more than most.

Yeah I’m going to stay with the straight 40’s now. I went with what they suggested for the spec of the engine, Doubt I’ll try another set as they are expensive to get sent to the UK.
