After a bit of disassembly and cleaning it seems I have a steady weeping of transmission oil coming from where the rear bearing housing casting is pressed onto the axle tube.  I should note that all pieces are chrome plated and it does not appear the bearing casting was unpinned and disassembled for chroming.  This is a Type 1 swing axle.

The car is new to me and given the grime I cleaned off, it appears to have been this way for some time.

I am hoping someone has dealt with this type of leak and can guide me with steps and products to seal this leak (short of disassembling the whole thing!)

Thanks in advance for any help.

It's rare to leak there, but common to leak oil into the drum from the 4 bolt cover plate
I'd save me some hassle, change the swing axle for another and paint the opposite  axle to match.
