48 IDA stacks

So i was running stock 48 IDA stacks on my 1835 cc engine , stumbled over a set of what i think early Jaycee Stacks , not the Billet ones



Not been on the dyno after , but ET did not change ,
I guess the original ones are „good“ enough for this little engine ?
Or would it be worth to invest into Billet ones ?
Unfortunately these stacks have been abused by one of the previous owners and don t clamp down 100 %
So my idea for 2022 is either , back to stock or Billet aluminium .
But what do you guys think ? Is it worth it ?
Another interesting fact is ( yes i know this is not oldschool) i ve seen some 3d printed stacks used on IDA … anybody has some experience on that ?

I am no expert, but I fitted the Jaycee fuel inlets and billet stacks and my Beetle went from a 12.1et to a 11.94.
Of course other factors could be involved but they were the only two mods made

Did the speed change?

Yes it went up from 174 to 178 kmh .
The 60 foot was 0,01 sec faster

I’ve dyno’d stock vs JayCee stacks and at my power level the stock stack won.  200+ HP.  I think you will waste your time with bigger than stock stacks.   Also I had 3-D printed stack but the vibration broke them.   It’s hard to beat the cool factor of the 3-D or JayCee ones though.    You’ll get the best gains working on the 60’ time, or more compression.

Can only agree with you on that
In the early 2000s, we were very much in the dyno
Then a lot of stacks were tested. We found a few that gave more
There are easier ways to find power in the machine
