Hey guys , need your opinion on a problem a friend of mine has.
The gearbox has been rebuilt after a breakdown , now there is a problem with first and second gear .
Both gears jump out under load , we tried several things , even disconnected the shifter completely , nothing helps .
Something is wrong on the inside .
I know the problem if one of the gears jumps out due to a misadjusted fork , but in this case both gears jump out under load .
The gearbox is coming back out now but what to look for in particular .
Anybody ever had this problem ?

It is usually that the slider can be bad on the inside
Then it does not grip the gear
Could also be the width of the slide that must be machined for it to lock
What kind of gear is used stock or Weddle /Finnish?
Another thing is if you mix stock gear, this can happen (different dimensions of the gears)

Thanks a lot , we thought about the sliding ring as well as it is the only common part for both.
It is a Rancho gear set
Keep you updated .

The 1-2 shift fork could be brass.
If the brass foot cracks off it'll mess with shifting... So you ram it when it balks...
This could also encourage the 3 'chicklets' or 2 springs, that put tension on the slider in the engagement position, to fall out of place.
Could also be a 4 mm fork in a 5mm slider groove.
Could also be the dog teeth on the gears rounding off.
In any case the trans needs teardown.

A Ps measure the width of sliders
If it is a little too wide (1-1.5 mm) it will jump out
Hope you have steel forks, if not change to such
Ps  Weddle is fast with parts 4 days door to door with regular shipping 2 days with express (UPS )
