Jim Sibley from Washington painted the #2 car. Once the Tar Babe was finished and raced, the #2 car was parked out back of Fleming & Aronson's shop on Howell street for a long time (no lock or chain). Engine was removed, as were the BRMs, but the decklid was stolen, and later returned. The "remains" of the #2 car were sold to a guy in Compton, who also bought the spare engine from the Baby Huey gasser, through Gene Berg. I worked at F&A at the time, and had the honors of removing any and all signs of the old paint, so no one would ever know what it used to be. I sanded all the lettering off, and primered it light gray. Greg and I added some aluminum work, and put it back together as a complete racecar. The car then ran at Irwindale a few times, and the guy over-revved the engine and bent all the valves. Gene took the engine back to his shop, and that was the last time I recall seeing, or hearing about the #2 Under Dog.

it is a timeless car because of the graphics in my opinion. it has a very 70's feel to it, but could have been driven this year on the track as well. special machine. like speedwell asked, what kind of engine(s) did it run?

There is lots of great video footage on the DKP reunion tape. The car had some type of 90/10 shocks up front. It would lift the front end up and keep it there.

In Speedwell's first photo, it's Doug Gordon wearing the glasses. Lisa and Ron Fleming (Lisa was Ron's first wife), yours truely, and the "legendary" Stan Davis.  The photo was taken at Pomona.  As for the engine, 78X89 and an Engle 160 cam come to mind.  Those were REALLY the days... Grin
