L.A. fires

Just watching the news about the L.A. fires. I can't believe what I'm seeing!

Hope all of you in the area are ok.

We are 3 hours south of the fires so safe for now.
Although it is very dry as we have had no rain for many months.
We have had devastating fires and have evacuated in the past too.
Today the Santa Ana winds are picking up again.
Fortunately the winds here are only 15mph here compared to the very strong winds in the LA area.
Fire insurance had already been getting expensive with others near by in single family homes getting fire insurance annual premiums increased to $13,000 a year.
No rain in the forecast for now...

we saw this over here and it is pretty incredible.
How on earth can this happen around such areas? So much people impacted.

The Santa Ana winds really fan the fires.

Strong winds than can blow and spread burning embers as far as 2 miles from the fire.
On days of extremely strong winds they may ground all the air tankers too.
We had a lot of rain last winter so there is more dry vegetation to burn.
That and the Fire department budget was cut by nearly 18 million this year and also had cuts last year too.
I did see they caught one fire bug with a propane torch lighting fires.

It is difficult to understand why someone would set fires, especially now!
