Driving Hot VWs for 44 Years Strong!

Since all you guys are into early Cal Look stuff...here are some really old shots of projects of mine. Chop Top Projects 1 & 2.  The first one was a PRE-CAL LOOK chop...1971 and an oval with flared fenders and all. It was the look at the time.  My second project, a full 4" chop was a 67.  A later drag car chop I worked on and eventually sold was in the 80s, with one of the first FRAMEWORKS Pro-Sedan Chassis Steve Rhodes built. Check out my crazy clothes in the early shots...What an era to have been part of.

The last shot is my white 67 I built in 1976, the year after the CAL LOOK was defined in HOT VWs. It was powered by an 88x69 motor with Webers on top. The shot is in front of the old Costa Mesa Auto Haus store that Doug Mische used to work at, long hair and all.  I guess we all had long hair back then.

That oval chop looks nice. Did it ever get finished? Thanks for sharing!

That white '67 is killer.  Here is a little color correction on the last pic.

    Good morning Rick

How are you doing? Are you working on any project these days. We do not see much of you at the local vw cruises and car shows.

   Take care

Hey Frenchy,

I have been buried with family, a home I am remodeling in UTAH and many other projects right now. Have an oval window I am building. Attached below is a shot of it.

Thanks everyine for posting all my shots.  I know I have shared them in other places.  The one shot of me with a bunch of cars was at one of the Bug-Ins. I believe it was #22. I slept in the car in line and basically got no sleep with all the motors starting up all night. Was a great time though...
