Starter Porsche

I know we have some Porsche fans here. What would be considered an entry level or starter Porsche? (No front engine models please.) Something that would be good on a semi-daily basis but won't require me to eBay a kidney.

that's easy: a 914!

They're a ton of fun to drive and easy to hot rod. My dad had a few in the 90's, my favorite was a 1.7L, all stock, narrow tired, Abarth muffler. Not fast, but sure was fun to drive. A good friend of mine built a nice yellow '75 with a 2.2L 4-cylinder and Webers, 911 alloys, lowered 30mm, drilled rotors and nice pads. I drove it through Box, Malibu and Decker Canyon in South Calif, and it was a blast!!!!!

I think Jim hit that one on the head. Try to get an earlier one, without the huge bumpers.

Eh, I was thinking something a little more modern. (Plus if I were to get a four cylinder from that time period it would be a 912.) Either a base model 911 from the 80s, early 90s or a 1st/2nd year boxster. Thinking of something I or the wife could drive instead of the Mazda SUV on a semi regular basis. Not something to tinker with since I have the bug for that.

I drive VW`s everyday and have to tinker with them very little.
