Speedwell,           According to Dave Bonbright, 1980 1981 he thought. He is a master innovator. First to put a bus box in a bug, first to bore a set of ida's out, first to make a vertigate style shift lingage....

Dave is a super nice guy. Rick Eckler (sp?) too. It was always cool to BS with him @ Sears Pt at the weekend drags, one of the only other VW guys there. Just look for snow beanie.

Looks like Bob Walters is in that article photograph too....the man behind Dial-In Cams. Who owned the two roundy round cars? Looks like yellow one was sponsored by Rennsport, is that Rennsport Werke that was in Santa Clara, Jim Wellington's shop....the Hirth Crank Master.
My old boss, Jerry Young was in the thick of all this stuff in the early 80's too....

Yes it was Rennsport Werkes from Santa Clara, Wheeler Gresham III had the yellow one and the Pikes Peaks car was owned by Don Reader and George Gray, driven by Gary Lee Kanawyor. It says in the article that Bob Walters got the cars together for the shoot. Smiley
