Anyone into car audio stuff? I am beginning to think my '67 needs something more than the stock AM radio and single speaker. Where is a good place to look for information on this subject. I am not looking for high end stuff, just a receiver capable of connecting to my Ipod and maybe satellite radio & four speakers. Any suggestions on where to get started?

Thanks,

Louis,

I'm also busy with building in some "modest audio"  I'm using an second hand amplifier with two speakers.  I putted the amplifier behind the backseat so you can't see it and the two speakers are in the panels under the backseat. With the panels I mean the parts with the holes in for the heaterchannels... I hope you understand me.
Then I used a simple cable: mini-jack to connect to the Ipod and two tulp jacks for the amplifier.   The amplifier is controlled with an on/off button on the dash.  It works very well.  I can control the volume on the ipod...  Now I'm looking for a place where I can put the Ipod.    I like the concept: you have music in the car, there is no "modern radio" in the dashboard and you can't see the amplifier and barely the speakers...   Unplug the Ipod and nobody will ever now there is a modern music installation in your car...
The amplifier is just an old car-amplifier I had, nothing special...  If it's ready I can make some pictures...

Sounds like a nice setup. I will be interested to see how it works out.

I will provide some pictures soon.  First how I put up the installation and then how I fitted it in the car...

An old 8 track player is superB ! I was planning to use one of these myself but unfortunattely there aren't many 8 track cassettes and players around here...  If I want an 8 track player I want to built it in the dashboard (place where the radio is) and not under the dashboard, but all the players I find are the bigger models for under the dash....  Undecided

I love 8-tracks too !
I think the majority of us are into VW's for among other reasons, nostalgia.
We try so hard to make our cars "period perfect", then why ruin the fantasy with a modern stereo ? (I know, it's just my opinion).
Anyway, here's a pic of my genuine Empi 8-track player.
The badge on the upper right corner says "Empi Car Stereo".
