One of the coolest things about Daves car (and so many of the other DKP cars) is that they are not perfect. Looking at the cars in the magazine back in the mid 90s I was totally intimidated by them. Once I saw them for the first time in 1998, it was comforting to realize that most of them had small chips and the bodywork wasnt concours quality. This was something that I could achieve!
These cars are used hard - well maintained - but used hard. They all have an honest patina, which is refreshing in this age of $75,000 cal-look cars! Sometimes I look at my car in the garage and notice the paint chips and stone stars from rocks being thrown off my slicks. I feel like I need to tear it apart and "restore" it again, and once again cars like Dave's become an inspiration that honest wear and tear is nothing to be ashamed off.

To me a car with that "honest patina" is much more impressive than those $70,000 trailer queens. Battle scars are nothing to be ashamed of. And at least you know those cars can actually back up the image.
