Hey guys,

anyone here from Australia?

My bug is an Australian import into the UK and I have no idea what year it is!  Huh

It is registered as a '66 but has small windows and looks earlier to me.

Someone told me it was a '65, but looking back I have no idea why! hence "My '65" on my site - seems dumb now!! LOL

Any ideas on interpreting the Australian VIN number to date it properly?

I did hear they built the small window bugs for longer down under.

Cheers all,

Steve

Australian bugs did keep the small windows until the '68 models came along - I believe they had their own tooling rather than making CKD kits so decided not to change panels until the Europa bumpers came along. I remember a friend of mine had a '65 small window, and Glyn Morgan in the VWDRC has a small window '67, so stands a very good chance yours is actually a '66
