Hi guys,
for those that were around during the period, which car do you feel was the closest thing to a real drag car that cruised the streets in Orange County in the 1980's? Any stories about the car (s)?
Pictures would be cool too.
Seems like the 1980's was the era of the real hot rodded street stuff, the street wheel standers, the 11 sec cars with plates...etc.

We have enough guys here now that 'were there'...let's hear your versions.

Thanks,

Oh Jim were do I start? I'll post a link to the Kawell site. I was good friends with Michael Martinez way back when. He would have me babysit his "street car" from time to time (Black Magic full bodied turbo car) This car flat HAULED ASS. Full tilt Kawell race motor, lettering, cage, slicks and I drove it around Orange and Santa Ana like a daily driver. Greg, Dave and Bill can elaborate on this car. Greg got a real ass chewing from one of his neighbors at 1:00AM in the morning because we were out f@#$ing around in his neighborhood late one night. He's outside getting chewed out by this guy and the rest of are in the garage trying to hide this car from an OC sherrif who didn't think that it should be on the road @1:00AM doing 120mph. Take a look at the customer cars on the Kawell site and you will see a couple of other "street cars" from that time. (Pat Nelson's orange '67 used to be mine before Pat put a Kawell turbo motor in it.) Mason and I have a better story about that car, I'll share later. Glenn

Black Magic, I Play to Win, Mike Mabee's Street Cleaner and several other cars on the Kawell site drove on the streets as they appear on that site. Happy Days,    Glenn
