I was surfing around, and found pics of this car. I remember it on the samba a few months ago. I dig it. Sort of a "Pro Street" look to it. How about the same look with magnesium halibrands or D spokes? Comments?

The stance plus wheel and tire combo really work on that particular car. Finish the paint (nothing gaudy), and the horsepower to use the meats, and I think its a hot, modern streeter.
Those other wheel choices could also be very effective.

That car was for sale at the last bugorama and I looked it over for a minute, its pretty cool. I think it has an IDA motor because I remember the IDA farts from the cold motor. I would paint it ruby red since it appears to be the cars original color. D spokes would look badass.

If I remember correctly, it was pretty reasonable too! $6800 or so was the asking price.

Exactly. I always liked the narrowed axle look. I`m sure everyone remembers the blue car on Fuchs from Hot VW`s. It looked very cool but I never saw it really run hard. I think a car like that should probably have a BIG turbo motor to back up the look.

love the car! finish the paint and you have one hell of a ride. Don't know the engine specs but if it's a IDA engine, it's all good!

To answer the question: I hate it. It looks unfinshed or dare i say almost rat look !
However with the changes that have been suggested (wheels, paint, etc) it would look very cool.

personally, not my style, but the guy that did the fenderwell work and all did a nice job.
I'm more a narrow tire guy, closer to a 356 look.

I was never into the pro-street thing. Big tires just to have big tires? A 7 - 8 inch slick looks just right on a bug.

Not bad... but I could do better 15x10 custom offset painted wide 5 Sprint Stars... short axles, cut down axle tubes, long axle end castings... 1" trans raise... torsion housing narrowed 1 1/8" on each side... 1 1/4" wider CCC fenders and little tubbing on the inside to look stock... 275/50 BFG drag radials

Damn Zach, how heavy do you think 15x10 sprintstars would weigh? They would look really cool though.

1 1/4" wider CCC fenders No, no, no and no! Stock sized fenders is where it's at!!! I like the car, but the front needs to be dropped a tad bit more IMO.

As it is someone else's car, I like it. Just looking at it kicks my imagination into gear, and thats the case with most of the other answerers here to it seems. If it had the perfect paint and perfect wheels, it would be "COOL" but it would lose its work in progress "quality". I have to say you had lots of nice ideas for this one guys.

They give you extra room, yet dont look like a widened fender. Very subtle. That combined with the slight narrowing of the torsion housing with stock length short axles and wide offset brakes would create a car that doesnt look tubbed, and doesnt look like it had widened fenders bolted on either. But the view from behind would look like a steam roller! After thinking about it... I think Id go with a 15x9 wheel. A 275 would look a bit stretched over a 10 incher. And who cares what it weighs? Custom offset CMS wheels and 10" slicks would be used for the track anyway

Big Carrera RS 911 9" wheels would look good under there. Not sure if offset is right though.

For my application above, it would need more backspace. But I agree, it would look tits
