So, let's say I wanted to buy some original DDS aluminum wheels, a DDS shifter, a DDS deep sump, and a DDS carb linkage.  How much money would I be spending?

What is the current going rate for the DDS stuff?

The Wheels are what brake the bank. Shifter/ $250.00,  Linkage/ $150.00,  DDS did sell sumps just with no DDS logo, I think BugCrap sells a copy of a DDS style sump for around $50.00 an original will run you 2-3 times that. Wheels I have seen for $1000-$2000.00 a set. Good Luck Wink

The new "BUGPACK" sumps are made from the original DDS mold.

Oh, Mr. Sling Shot if you have any questions or grips about our products feel free to e-mail me at Dominick@bugback.com or call me at the office (714) 979-4990

As a big follower of old DDS parts I can tell you that the biggest part of owning these parts is finding them in the first place. You really have to invest a certain amount of time to locate these items, as they are hard to find, and locating them at a decent price is something you are going to work at. We've heard of DDS shifters going for $10 at the Pick-A-Part, or the other extreme is $600 on e-Bay. I know of a set of four DDS wheels right now for $2500 (4.5x15, not mine), or you can wait and see what pops up at the local swap meets. The Samba is great, but most of the sellers know what these stuff is worth.

If I had to do it over again, I would use my DDS wheels only for shows and cruises, but for real driving, I would go with Ercos in a minute. Mike, your car is awesome, and adding a host of DDS parts would make it even better.

Hi Matt, no no bites yet....I think the fact that my car is not "well known" may be hurting it....but whoever pulls the trigger on it will not be disappointed..... Grin

what's nice about that shifter is that it comes with the correct cup that goes under the shifter, almost all I see for sale are incomplete.  Time to knock up a few of them zach.

I just picked up some NOS DDS IDA Manifolds for £100 = $190, which I thought was a good price.

Yeah, I hesitated for a moment, then I saw it was complete and decided it was the one Ive been looking for Wink The last major piece for my '67 project has been found!!
Great deal on the DDS manifolds! I snatched up mine from Dave Cormack a few years ago, used but unported. I think I paid $125 for them. And they are the same ones that were featured in a VWTrends article!  Cheesy

Deano, yes, I guess half the fun is the thrill of the chase to find the items.  Personally I have a hard time stepping up to pay full market price for these parts, I like to find the "deals".  As do we all!   Grin

I had Ercos but sold them a month or two ago.  I had the zero offset fronts and the rears with the dished lip, they didn't look like DDS.  If I get another set of AL wheels, I'd like them to look as close to the DDS wheels as possible.

Yes, I saw the Bugpack DDS copy sump in the latest Hot VW's, looks cool!
