We can't force ya to have fun

« on: February 04, 2008, 18:41:37 pm »

I was thinking about getting one for the '67 for whenever I get it running.

I see a lot of different designs. What should I look for? Which models?

There are several different options. This is the one I have:

It is a six inch version. It has the tattle tale option to tell you when it is full. They don't make this version anymore but they are still pretty common and not that expensive. There are eight inch versions as well I think. Holley bought the company that produced them and now they produce a version which is round called a UFO. They all pretty much work the same. You have an inlet, and outlet and a screen in the middle to filter the oil. I think there are different versions of the screen which filter different microns. The stock one should be fine.

Here is another version, I think it is a six inch. Borrowed from a post by The Ideaman:

The "IN" is on the other Side of the Filter...

You can fix it where you what, i have mine fixed on the Berg Traction Bar...

There is a reusable Filter Screen inside the Filter...

Hope this Helps...

Try to avoid it... is the Oberg an issue?

It's fine to look at little sparkley things, but the oil gets dark real fast. Microns asside, when I got sick of my OBerg and refit an HP1 without changing the oil,  the oil started going " light" again. Alot can be said for paper elements. I also noticed things were much nicer at teardowns after returning to paper elements.

What about the System 1? I've got one on my '67 and it's never needed anything, doesn't leak and looks good too.

Why mount something that good looking? Why not keep it in the glovebox and when at a stop light simply open the glovebox, take it out, check it out, put it back and then race whoever was beside you - just because you can.
Having something to do might save sitting there getting that nervous adrenaline rush. If the lights went green, you could always style it out at the next lights and excuse yourself out of it by saying 'Waddya mean? I wasn't racing, I was checking out this lovely filter.' Then whilst showing off your lovely CSP filter, you're keeping an eye on the light - when it goes green you're ready and you trounce your competitor.

The CSP sounds like an all-round winner to me. Grin

Right Ivan, it works for me as well, but only to break in the engine, dismantle them and see what's going on. These things just filter to about 60 Microns. That's not what you want over the entire engine life.
My 2 cents.
