Thats really not a 67 mirror. Bugs 65 and up have the visors mounted to the outer corners of the roof. 64 and down visors are mounted to mirror. And as far as the black I`m not really sure what that is about. All the 67`s use the regular metal mirror.

hmm interesting...
but i know for a fact that in a type3 the combo with the black mirror and silver arm are 67 only mirrors. here in europe anyway (not sure about the rest of the world, but i think it is the same) and i really can't say how a 67 or any other year mirror is mounted in a bug as i don't have one. but i will look up the number and then someone can go and look in his partsmanual for what year it is.

That is not true. Early 67's used the same metal mirror as in 66's, but later models had black plastic mirrors (like mine).

I've never seen the plastic as an OE piece but it was sold by dealers as a replacement.

it's from a standard model by the look of it, dull silver rather than chrome, we've got one in the cabinet at the shop

right it is indeed the silver arm and black mirror, the arm is not chromed. the box has 2 stickers on it with in both cases the same partn°. 113 857 511 K
i can relate to the fact that it can be a standard mirror as mine in the 67 square has indeed a chromed arm. i only have experience with type3's and in that case there it is a 67 only option with either a grey mirror or black.
this one was sold to me as a 67 only part and i have reason to believe that is the truth because of the type3 being largly the same.
hope this helps

I'd guess it's a later stock replacement for 58-64 mirrors, standards did keep the old-style mirror later than 65, but it the arm was black AFAIK
