I was there, so you don't have to tell the story.  Grin

Dual port heads are too cookie cutter. I'd rather have tri ports, just to be different.

Friday night at 1288 Heather was street racing night. Our VW club would converge upon that house like ants to spilled sugar bowl. One night John Bates and I were especially randy and boisterous I guess, and we talked the entire club to go "hunting" later that night. There were a few local strips in the area, and two were marked off with paint for the 1/4. Anyway, we did some quick crap to my '67, think we put Type 2 snubbers on it and a dry-sump pulley (same diameter as alternator pulley). Later on we ended up at some fast food place on the east side of town, Bates and me in my '67, few other Beetles in tow behind us, and even our watercooled guy in his 2.0L 4-door Oettinger Rabbit (Golf Mk 1 for you guys). This was where the V8 guys hung out, but nothing hardcore, just cars off dealer floor, maybe with mufflers and that's about it. Mustang 5.0 heaven. We pull into driveway of Burger King and lay on the go pedal hard, sending the car sideways past Country Joe and his 5.0. We made a U-turn and did it again in front of him, getting his attention now. All his buddies looked at him like "what ya gonna do about that?" So he yells over at us "you wanna run 'em?" So I said yes, and he wants to go to line up out where the cops were always waiting. No, let's head out to Raymond, and he agreed.
We get out there and he's laughing and making country-cooter tweaker noises, and we line up, my friend flags us, by 5000rpm in 2nd, it isn't a race. He's got a book of excuses, ladder bars not set, tire pressure too high, weight of speaker boxes, etc. So he takes 5 minutes and unloads his entire interior, speakers, lowers tire pressure...we line up, again, david beats goliath. All of the guys in the VW club were bursting at the seams laughing, and the guys is pissed. Gets out his Mustang, fingers his mullet, and comes over to our group, where my '67 is parked. We pipe down, not sure of this guy and how mad he is. He starts looking over at my car, and asks a few of us at once.... "that there thing a dual port?"
I answered him "you might say that."
