I'm thinking of putting together a 1641 for this summer
what would be a good 'low budget' setup for a 1641?
twin 36 dellorto? weber? empi? something else? maybe 40? more less?
mahle cilinders?
other camshaft? engle W110? 120? +? bugpack? staying with stock?
what do you think?

cw 69 crank
87 barrels
W110 or similar maybe on 1.25's or stock 1.1 is ok on a budget.
39x32 heads or better
dual 36 idf's or 40's work great
try to get you hands on a 019 that worked great for my engine
header was a 1 1/2 SS header was what i got

works great in my opinion

No more than a 110x1.25 for that small displacement. Pair of 40's, some decent 40x35.5 ported heads, 8.5:1, exhaling through a 1 1/2" merge. Expect around 95hp.

Nicolas, was this your setup @ DDD5 ?  You should take a look at this Glauco.  Nicolas told me he did 16's, almost 15's with this combo, not bad i guess...!  Tongue

Sorry,
What i allways donīt understand, if i saw the displacement suggestions...Why donīt use 35,5x32 valves for 1641ccm...Big Valves in such a small displacememt costs low rpm  tourque....And with good working stock heads you can rev with right cam to over 6500 rpm...have the right HP (90-100hp) at 6000 upm...Is that not a good point? So and there are less costs for stock heads...
Think about

Bye

Tom is right a set off original big valve heads can do the trick. i wanted the most out off it and went for bigger heads (extra cost) but it didn't suffer bottomend torque.

pm me if you need more info on the engine. or call me up, i have some rockers, cam, carbs and pistons laying around from that engine. i also have the heads, but they need work. i am not sure what you need for that engine, but i want to help if you like. i am not an expert, but i did make that engine myself. and i have learned a lot afterwards.
