Not really a car movie, but RONIN has the best car chase scene ever! And it lasts half of the movie!

sounds crasy, but I come to custom cars with the Mad Max movies. I saw them in 1982, when I was 12. By the way. I am still looking for a copy of "two lane black top" I saw it in the early 90th in german tv. And then never again. Can somebody help?

Don't forget the early-'70s "C'etait un Rendez-Vous" from director Lelouche - 10 minute long movie. Take a Ferrari and drive it as fast as you can at dawm from one side of Paris to the other (the city is EMPTY!). Yeah, it involves running a few red lights, too... Movie was filmed with a camera attached to the front of the car. A total rush. Autobooks in Burbank, CA, sells this obscure movie.

I was thinking about that one but I thought it might have been too obscure a reference. I think it was orginally marketed as "Rendez-Vous" in the US. BTW... he's actually driving a MB 6.9 with the soundtrack of a Ferrari overdubbed. Rick

"C'etait un Rendez-Vous"
What is the translation? Stephan may correct me but I'd translate the title as "It is a meeting/date." And the text at the beginning translates to "The flim you are about to see is realtime and without editing."

I just knew that was no Ferrari.... unless the final gear ratio was changed for a very very low one. I watched the movie so many times that I actually drove straight up to Sacre Coeur with a rental without a map last fall... I have to say that the dubbing is very well done to, must have used the time code from the movie and recorded the braking and accelerating with a real Ferrari to mach. And thanks for lending it to me PreCal!!

For me there is only one;
- Pinchcliffe Grand Prix 1975, what a movie, just fantastic! Only thing missing is a smell sheet actually.
Here is some classic shots from the movie;
Oh... and I can have a look at the original Il Tempo Gigante every day :-) A true masterpiece and a must see for all race fans!

Hell yeah...Pinchcliffe Grand Prix eclipses them all...and here I go stepping on some toes: the chase in Bullit is a piece of crap! First of all, as in almost every other 60's and 70's chase...they have added silly tyre screeching sounds...even when the cars drive on sand! They also pass the same Beetle at least 5 times on their way down the hills...and worst of all...parts of it is clearly played in fast forward mode. My god what a true piece of utter crap!

How come no one mentioned Cannonbal Run yet? Not just for the car scenes, but I always have a great laugh from watching two of showbiz worst drunks ever, wasted beyond all comprehention throughout the movie, Dean Martin and Sammy Davies Jr.
Last American Hero with Jeff Bridges behind the weel also was a big favourite when i was a kid, but that one kinda lost it's greatness over the year, so I'll go for the original Gone In 60 Sec.
Opening scenes of Herbie The Love Bug also earns it's place among the classics. Take a look at all those amazing cars get wrecked, it's disturbing, yet highly entertaining.
