Damn... Speedwell, is that your car? NICE! But that license plate is a trip. Is that a special issue plate? Or has it been repainted black. Reason I ask is because black California plates ran from 1960-1969 and were three letters followed by three numbers. Example: ABC 123. In 1970, the background color was changed to a medium blue and the numbers preceded the letters. Example: 123 ABC. In 1980, the blue background remained. But since so many cars were being made/sold, the Dept. of Motor Vehicles decided to change the configuration a bit. Example 1ABC234. And that's the same sequence that we have today. The blue background got phased out quite some years back. I'm guessing sometime in the early '90s. Now, a standard CA plate is a reflective (YUCK!) white background, the CALIFORNIA is in red, and the numbers/letters are navy blue. Horrible, but all the better to catch the speeders and red light runners with the photo operated intersections. HAHA!! I know that Europe has had those since the '80s. I prefer the black or blue plates on all of my cars.

Unless your plate is a manufacturer, dealer, or some other special issue, it's an uncommon one.

I've been collecting license plates, and VW/Porsche dealer frames since I was a teenager. Which is why I'm curious. What are the specs on your engine? Or is that classified? HAHA!!

Ah... I totally forgot about commercial (truck) and trailer plates. It's probably a trailer plate, unless California did the configuration different in the '60s. Thanks for the correction.

Your engine sounds like it'll have no problem running on pump gas and still fun to drive.

During the yellow on black years, commercial plates (trucks) had one letter and trailers had 2.

True, that. Trucks are still close to the same config.

Yes, it is the same Car...

The Owner Fabien aka "Speedwell", did a lot of work on that Car to get it done, but Time run out of him during the 2007 Season...

This is why the Car was a No Driver as the Motor was not finished...

I'll leave the Rest of the Story up to the Owner... Wink
