I am in the process of putting scans of every cover of VW trends on my website.

These will be complete, but will take me a while as there are over 200 of them!

Volume and issue numbers plus the editor of that edition will be posted.

I have done the layout, and uploaded one pic for people to see.

I now need your opinion, I am not a designer, so what do you like or not like about it.  One thing that will change, the title of the page will be a picture once i finish it.

the aim here is to have a record of all the issues, not to scan the contents as well.

Lids

great idea but i would use a black background page with white writing, looks more slick.

and maybe a shorter web address.... Wink

not a lot i can do about the web address, if you go to my main page you can get to this one via the buttons.

I will have a play with a background image.

IMO, it's cool as-is, background image will make it look like a mess since the page consists of thumbnails of magazine covers  Cool

(If you don't want to buy a domain name to use with your main page, only thing you could clear the URL would be quit using spaces so they won't encode to "%20", URL will be more readable with camelCase or under_scores, but doesn't really matter since it is linked elsewhere.. )

Hi Michael,

great idea and nice layout! I am a magazine collector as well and that helps seeing which issue is missing and which not!
Cheers,

Georg

I am slowly working my way though all my mags, getting closer to 1984 as I type.  I am missing some, but these are been filled slowly.  Hopefully it will be complete soon.

Once these are done, I will start on some of the others like VW greats and Hot VW's.

Didn't know there were special ones, please give me some more info(if you have pics of these I will do a roll over so that when you hover the mouse over it will change!).  I am missing the later years 2000 onwards.  you can email me these scans at michaelliddle@blueyonder.co.uk

Cheers Joe, much appreciated.

i have done everything from 2000 onwards that I have, I was waiting for 40 odd mags from canada, but looks like I got stiffed.  I have just completed 1991 and 1992, and these will be online later.  I have everything from 1984 to 1991 except april 1984, so that would be useful.

cheers

Typical, after i complain about not receiving my mags, they arrived today.  I will scan them into tonight, so people can see.

Joe  please don't send any more scans until you've checked what's missing.  It will be updated later.  Thanks

my first vw magazine and the same time i was getting into magazines was nov of 2002. cool job.

i do have a question for you. i need to find the little comics in the back that had STROKER McDELL in them. I was talking to doug berg and he was saying there is one where stroker mcdell is running over gene berg holding a cane in a bug with huge dellortos sticking out the back. he told me he thinks they were in vw trends in the early to mid 90's, if you dont mind researching your collection, i would greatly appreciate it.

Joe, I have finished scanning all my mags and they are uploaded.

If you look you can see the there are lot missing from 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.

Can you please email these to me.  The size you were scanning is okay, as i edit them etc.

Cheers

My next mission is to help with a nostalgia update with el dub, hopefully have that done this weekend.

Then it will be down to sorting through the other mags.

Ben, i think i will concentrate on the mags that are out of publication first.

I am also trying to get some information about an old VW performance company, and hopefully that can be put onto my website or the nostalgia one.  If it comes off, i will keep people updated.
