Sorry, Ron... I didn't see your thread on this till now. I started a Nick's thread in this (Happenings) forum, already.

After the weekend, I'll get Bug-In photos on here, too.

Just got home from the Bug In.  Wow.  I had not been to a Bug In since 1981 or so.  What a cool experience.  It was awesome running into all these old guys like me, many of which I had not seen in over 25 years.  There were lots and lots of cars to see.  The drag racing was a bit of a bummer for awhile, as there were plenty of knuckleheads blowing gear boxes and crankshafts off the line.  So... lots of down time on the strip made for a bit of a grind.  Note to knuckleheads:  if your car if a piece of shit, please do not run it at the Bug In as many others that took their time in building a quality race car would like to make a pass that has not been spilled with 90 wt oil all over it.  It is okay to WATCH the races if you even think you might blow a rod.  Have a nice towing bill home.
Another note:  I met a lot of great guys from DKP this weekend and each and every one of them are totally cool people.  Except Danny Gabbard.  Ahhhhh, just kidding Danny, that Schwinn of yours rocked, especially the "Dick" license plate.  Hah!  You dah man.  As well some uber clean rides all in one place.
The ol' men that showed up from DKK stood together once again for a cool group photo.  Hopefully someone will post it up here.  I think the tan DKK shirt made me look fat..... yah think?
My son was so stoked when we happened to see Dyno and he took a moment to say hello to my son.  Well done sir.
Classicly styled Cal Look cars, strange looking cars, Hoodrides, WTF? cars, race cars old and new, long lines for food, swap meet patrons carrying around merged exhausts, fat (handsome) old men with tan colored shirts, oil spewing "drag" (yeah right) cars, Belgian beer, a 7 second railer run, strange Belgian men with extremely long tongues licking every car around, just plain old So Cal fun.  What a day.  Cant hardly wait for the next one.  Heres a pic of the car show area (part of it).
Enjoyed seeing eveyone and just hangin' out.

And now to say thanks to Mike Hunsaker and Ron Fleming for letting me drive their Super Street car. Sorry I got taken out in the first round, but I had a ball. Ran a best ET of 10.27 and a TS of 129.5mph to qualify 3rd. Very cracious of them to "loan" me the car! Thanks guys - I had a ball! Smiley Smiley

First pass was a 10.39 at 129.4 with a 1.41 60ft; second was 10.30 at 129.6 also with a 1.41 60ft and the third 10.27 at 128.5 with a 1.34 60ft – got out of the groove on that last one, so did a '500 yard' quarter mile! Car is a blast to drive and with more seat time I'm sure I could have got it in the 'teens'. I'd never used a two-step before, so that felt odd. Also, Ron has the staging brake set right the way back by his right elbow, whereas I'd have preferred it to be alongside the gear shifter. Apart from that, though, it was easy to drive and obviously set up by someone who knows what they're doing.

Big thanks also to Dave Mason for being such a cool crew chief.  Smiley
