I checked the official spa franchorchamps site and there is no date set in the calender for the bugshow in 2008 Sad.
But that doesn't mean there will be no meeting.

The track schedule is starting to look fully booked: http://www.spa-francorchamps.be/en07/calendrier/meeting.php

Any new info Fabian? The weekend after the Grand Prix is the only free weekend.

YOYOYOYOYOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!   SMASHING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CHECK OUT THE www.vwbugshow.be WEBSITE!!!!

SPA IS GO! on 12-13-14 September (the only slot open on the official www.spa-francorchamps.be track website!)

I saw the head organizer at a VW Swapmeet here in Belgium earlier today... and it's going to happen, and yes at SPA Raceway!

the only small setback is that the number of days that racing is alowed on Spa (noise restrictions) has been reached with other events... so this September no Dragracing at the BUGSHOW...

BUT! We have the perfect answer to that  Grin the following weekend it's DAS DRAG DAY #6!!!!  Grin Grin Grin

SO.... just imagine this! it's the end of the Summer and the weather is Perfect!  and it's time for another BelgianVWweek!!!  Grin Grin Grin

You travel to Spa... enjoy a fantastic Show and Shine.. with cars displayed alongside Europe's most excellent Racetrack, with plenty of party action and the whole SPA deal!
then you spend the next few days going to VW Shop Open House BBQs, a Totaly Packed VW Cruisenight at Waterloo Mc Donnalds, a MUD Day and BBQ, and a DynoDay!!!
then you drive to Bitburg and kick back, have some beer's and bratwurst and just sit there watching Europe's Fastest Dragracers in Action on the Quick track of Bitburg...

how about that for a VW season ending Programe?Huh  Grin

Apparently there must be some kind of 'empty' period before and after the F1 Grand-Prix (a period during which no event can be organised).
The circuit officials have decided to follow this rule to the letter, which means no Bug Show can be organised.

F1? They have nothing to do with it! Blame those stupid pseudo-ecological regulations.
I though that such an absurd is possible only in Poland. We have a problem like that. There is only one certified race track here left. It's old, but people who built they houses around it started to protest claiming that it's to noisy. It's god damned race track, what a surprise! They knew it was there while choosing the place for settling down. Still they won, and now there are noise restrictions on the track. Quiet race cars?!
This is a problem with aging society - it turns into gerontocracy.

I agree fully with the racing part, holding the E brake during staging isnt what im used to, but I have to say that I love Spa as an arena, its a sacred place for a motor enthusiast, and I would also miss the little town that is Spa. But the racing can only get better  Roll Eyes

Apparently it's back on again! different location

There will be a BUGSHOW this year, 22,23 and 24 of August

There is a major change..

Due to the management of SPA we must relocate, We have this huge luck that we are allowed to organise the BUGSHOW on an ancient military airfield at BRUSTEM near St TRUIDEN

This means;

Drag racing on an airstrip,400M.

Camping on a flat surface.

All activities that we are used to these last years.

We thank you all for coming to our show.

Details are on the Website as soon as we have them all.

www.vwbugshow.be

We hope to see you here

Le Belgian Buggy & VW CLUB

Chers amis, Grin

still can't go, we've got a race meet that weekend Huh

I agree totally. The biggest part of the magic for me too was the Spa track and the area around it, like the country roads that must have been part of the original longer track(?). Plus that there were reasonable hotels etc in surrounding villages.

Its such a shame that its not at Spa!
But I feel that it would still be worth going, after all it would be good to show support to the Belgian Buggy club especially after all their hard work previous years!

Hey Kobus at its not the weekend before DDD6 now does that mean that the possible open houses and BBQ's before DDD are off? I remember you mentioned something before maybe on your blog?

Thanks,
Rob.
