Just been tidying one of my rooms and came across this. Forgot I had it...

It's the supplement to the LA Times, dated October 17th, 1971. Inside is a story about the
popularity of Bugs, and had artworrk of various cars,m including Inch Pincher Too.

This is the cover, by Dave Deal. Cool, yes? Check the glasspack muffler 'Wimpi'! Cheesy

I had never seen that particular piece of Deal artwork before but his style was my inspiration for the 67. I actually though about having some "tounge in cheek" stickers made for this season that resemble early ones, only people that know will get the humor.

D.B.O. Not a club; a state of mind.

That Dave Deal newspaper insert is classic.

Here's one that used to be on the front of the local newspaper dispensing machines in the late '80s. I still have this...it's a plastic sign that's about 14" tall and 24" wide. 'Tis safe to say that their artist didn't know their VW Bugs very well. D'OH.

And you thought that Brazilian Bugs looked mixed up.

Wow, another cool artwork by "Big" Deal. He really is one of my favourite illustrators. Our club was in contact with him in 2006 because we wanted to use his famous "bug bomb" motive for our 2006 "MayCruiseMadness" T-shirt. He his such a nice and funny guy-and still into "Aircooled", running a 718 replica in flat-black and a Meyers Manx beside other cars. Well-and he supported our shirt in emailing a hi-res version of the image for free as we granted not to use it for commercial purposes, only for our club´s finances.

Dave is a good guy, I worked with him to develop a logo for a local Jersey show. He supplied the beetle, I did the rest.
