The port opening looks like the 2 sets of AJ Sims heads Ive had done. And did you see the chamber volume?? 69cc?! Is that a typo or what?!

Yes, but you can only flycut so much. CB told me max flycut for their heads is .140", after that you start running into the fins. And then the valves will start getting awfully close to the pistons...

1915 with .04" (1mm) deck and 69cc chambers give.... 7.3:1 CR!  Roll Eyes

figure it out,if you use zero deck and slightly flycut the heads............ Smiley

I really don't know why they made the chambers so big,the chambers volume is ideal for turbo...hm.....

A friend of mine had AJ do his 1914 heads a few years back, and they ended up 60+ cc too.... I ended up having to help my friend out with 94 cylinders I had that were trimmed .040 on top, but heads had been flycut AND still had 60+cc, and fins touched fins, and....

What's the trip with these swimming pool chambers? Only guys that can make use of them are big stroke stuff with long rods and turbo guys it seems.

Turbo what??

These heads would make decent turbo heads. smaller ports, big chambers, etc.

DRD has come out with a line of CNC heads. Been looking at a set maybe for my engine. I like the CNC concept of all ports being equal. Price is pretty good too.

With the CNC thing that CB does, i just don't like the intakes. They just wack all material away around the intake guides. I think the old skool hand job  Wink is the way to go. And yes, like Jim mentioned: swimming pool  chambers anyone? My 2 cts.

seems to me a head should have quench. Tight deck, quench or you just have big old hole for mixture to go stagnant in.

We can do any one of our CNC chamber's you want in this head. This chamber is close to the ultra wedgeport chamber but can be used with a 90.5 bore. I just finished a 74x94 2054cc engine with these heads. The engine was for a road coarse race car. I used a 5.500 length rod, #2288 cam This is a near clone to an Web 86b, 42x37.5 mini wedgeport heads with the LS-1 springs, 10-1 compression, 1-7/8 merged header and a pair of 48 IDA's with 42mm vents. The engine pulled 170 Ft Lbs. of torque at 5500 rpm and 195 horsepower at 6800 rpm. I'm not sure why someone said that the head can only be flycut to .140 befor you loose a fin. If I remember correctly, I think it's more like .180

Pat i'm just a home wrencher. What about the lifetime of the head when so much material has been taken away around the guides. And with a 10-1 compression i'm sure it will make that power. But were not all racers.

Other than the boss being removed, there is not much material removed around the guide. In fact the floor of the port has just enough material removed so that the CNC will clean up. I was not aware that 10-1 compression was considered race compression. How about this, Today I am running an 7.8-1 compression 2332cc engine for a street car. It has 44 IDF weber carbs, mini wedgeport heads with the standard VW dual spring, #2246 cam, very close to a Engle 130,  stock ratio rockers, 1-5/8 stainless exhaust with muffler. This engine is making 170 Horsepower and 162ft lbs. torque.

10-1 is for Nice Street Motors...My opinion is that Race compression starts at 12.5 to 1.... Wink Grin Grin

Pat, can you buy the mini wedge port heads bare? And what are the cc differences in the different chambers that you offer?

Thanks

I think there are pros and cons to cnc heads. For me I would stick with a hand ported head taylored to the motor.  If I had too I would go with the mini wedge for better air speed. The port is still huge and flows well. I won't even begin to speak my mind on the compression comment! I've been jumped before at the "other" place. Hello again Pat, hope all is well. Casey

It would be great if there are those heads with 55 or so cc's.

To me a real advantage of CNC heads is if 1 gets damaged is real easy to replace it with another exactly the same straight of the shelf, unfortunately CB seems to have decided this isnt a good idea, hence there add stating only sold in pairs, seems very strange Huh
