Wasn't gonna show you this until THE BOOK comes out but I decided you all need a reason to buy the book when it comes out...
Ladies and gentlemen (not that there's many of either here...), I give you Don Crane in full 'Gasser' mode!

Great looking car. Oh and my guess is you could publish all the pics here and we would still buy the book.

actually when I got my '67 in 1986, it sat just like that.... high in the front, and squat in the rear. I have seen other '67's sit the same way.
If you pulled BRM's off Crane's car in that pic, and replace them with bright white '65 wheels, no caps, and widened in rear...you would have a pic of Sheep's '67 from early 90's, to a tee..... easily a 13 sec car.

That photo reminds me of when we got busted by the cops for having the front end too low, we used to bolt-in some "special" shocks that had the shafts shimmed with rubber hose and clamps, to fully extended. They made the car handle like crap, but for the few hours it took to have the fix-it ticket checked off, I guess they were worth the hassle.
There was also a pass-around "smog" engine for emission tickets, and a 3-bolt header plate with a series of holes drilled into it for excessive noise tickets.

We used to use shocks with overload coil springs mounted on them to get back to stock height. I could put on the shocks on, drive down to the Tustin police dept, drive home, remove the overload shocks and put on my normal shocks in about 40 minutes.

Ain't nothin' stock about that (front) ride height!
It's a result from the removal of the front bumper
That thing is standing tall though! Check out the chrome on the running board... even a stock beetle has a downward slope on it, that bad boy is as straight as a wedding dick

That works in so many ways.
Bugs look superb with a front end drop but boy this could go a long way to changing things...................perfect - street tuff - colour - tyres - wheels blah, blah......loving it !!!

Back then the idea was that if you raised the front end, the body weight would transfer onto the rear wheels upon acceleration at the drag strip.
Providing more traction.
Not just a "fashion trend".

I have to follow dem on this one, the stance just doesn't work for me, I realy love the car, but it just neets to drop a few inches in the front to be perfect.
but hey, who am I to judge
