Crankshaft seal

Several times I had a red silicone seal, but it gave up on me and soon it started leaking.
On the stock motor I had great results with a stock seal.
What do you guys use on your motors? Stock seal, stock double lip seal, silicone?Which one is the best for a hig performance application.

Single or dubble lip its all in the way you put it in. If your flywheel has a worn spot were the lip hits its going to leak. If you dont lubricate it when mounting it will wear out fast and leak. Also if you have bad blow by with worn cylinders the crankacse preasure will eventually make the seal leak.I have used the red silicone seal on my 2332 race engine for years with no issues. Make sure the backside of the flywheel is smoth otherwise polish it to a shine.

The only problems that I have seen with the silicone seals is that if you don't use sealer on the Outside of the seal,(where it touches the case) oil will leak around the outside .
