And am wondering what I have.I think I do know but wondering if IM thinking correctly.I bought a set of Ansens (or so I thought) but once my dad was cleaning them up (i was at work) he found stamped on the inside, Made In Japan.Now I know that Flat 4 makes these style rims BUT these are 13x5.5 and 14x7".Ive never seen a Flat 4 wheel this size.I checked the Flat 4 site and they said on there site that they made 13 and 14" versions of these wheels for a short time.So do I have original Flat 4 Enkei slotted dish wheels?
I'll get pics later if those are needed but they look exactly like the newer 15" version Flat 4 sales now.Any info would be awesome as Id like to see how rare these are.

I think I decided on 165/70/13's and 185/60 or 185/65/14's.What you guys think.I found Tirerack so far is the only one that cares the 165/70/13's.Anyone know anyone else that carries them?

why is that?
it would be a tire in the range of 22" similar to that 145/65/15 some of you guys use.

edit" to be exact, the 165/70/13 is 22.1"
the 145/65/15 is 22.4"

so why would i have a problem with my drums?

Why is that?The guy that had these wheels had them on his 68 bug with drums and he never had problems with stopping so why would I need to adjust them constantly or whatever?Do the guys running 145/65/15's have to be good friends with there brakes when they run these tires?

I think what Zach is trying to say is, the more you use your drum brakes the more often you will have to adjust them. On daily driven VW's with drums, I like to re-adjust the brakes once a month.

as for the slalomcar... the raceshop slalomcar had also small tires that were pretty wide. and ansens would have looked good on that car as well. so tell us what it is for if you want.

slalom car?Im trying to figure what that it...auto X? My cars just a daily driver.

i havent started on it yet man, bugs almost done "dances" i'm going to start on buying that stuff when its driveable.I got a spare motor that I'm going to tear down and ship to my friend to get bored out and whatever it needs to run 88's and possibly a 74mm crank.There the same price in cbperformances site.

The funny thing is, when these wheels go on with 195/65/14's and 165/65/13's, the current stance it is now, it will look like and old Gasser.That will be changed eventually later on once i have the money to buy drop spindles and have avis adjusters weleded in the front end, i'll lower it. I wanna give it one of the lethal rakes. Cheesy

I agree, the slolom car look would be bad ass. Some flared 'glass fenders, and drop it down real low with some wide rubber. That's a look you dont see nowadays.

Sounds like a cool idea, any idea who sells flare fenders, or I could have a local here with a fender roller/puller do my fenders up.Any pic of a bug done like this?By the way, I decided IM going with 165/65/13's and 195/65/14's.I think it would look nice.

Go lower profile on the tires (the shorter the better for the right look), and at least a 205 for the back on that 7" rim. Scrounge the swap meets or wrecking yards for some flared fenders.

I was searching for some of these flared fenders and found a place that sells them for 112 bucks each ut from hat I've read on some forums is the quality of there fiberglass sucks.Also as far as a local scavenger yard having these or any  VW bug Im out of luck there.So I was thinking of just going to this guys place and have him flare just my rear fenders as my front wheels fit nicely inside the front fenders.
t would cost me 75 for a pull and 75 for a roll on each fender.

Also wouldnt 205's screw with my gearing, causing my car to rev high.

Yeah, it will screw with the gearing a little, but it will give the car the right look and it will make it a rocket off the line. If you decide you dont like the gearing you can always put in a lower geared trans later to compensate.

Can I run a 195/60/14 instead of the 205/50 or 55.The prices are my problem and Im finding that these sizes are either a slick or competition only tire an have a 100 or 200 tread wear.I an get a Falken Zieus tire that has a 400 tread wear nd have the look of a competition tire since it is my daily driver.What you guys think?

I would go with a 205 tire, but with a 100 or 200 tread it wont be fun running them as a daily driver tire.Pluss there in the 150.00 range and are Competition tires or slicks.195 by the way does look good to me, since my Sentra has 195/50's on a 15x7 wheel.The sidewall isnt stretched or ballooned out, its straight up and down.
