Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

« on: April 09, 2008, 17:33:26 pm »

I love the sound of a well tuned motor breathing out of a glass pack. But no one makes them in the right size for the VW anymore, all the ones I've seen (Cherry Bomb, ect.) are too long and/or too big around. Where are they? There has got to be something out there...

BTW, the S&S on my GTV is 18" long and about 3 1/2" diameter...ish. That's about the size I would be looking for.

The dimensions given in the ad are for the inlet/outlet tubing size.
The dimension you gave is for the muffler itself.
Unless you are running a very large diameter header, they are too big.

Are you sure? This one is explained pretty well, seems like it would work to me?

Maize runs one of the Dynomax Bullets on his orange '67, with a nod to the early guys.  Sounds like a stinger, but with lots of tone.

Here's mine that I made using a Cherry Bomb.... the shape of the silencer isn't quite right, but you get the idea.

Sorry I'm a little late to reply.
I re-fitted the muffler earlier (I've changed headers and it no longer hangs right), and made this short clip.

The sound of the muffler is by no means offensive, but I'm sure that my neighbours didn't appreciate it at 500 in the morning when I left for work.
The tubing from the flange to the silencer is 1.75"(45mm), the silencer OD is 3.5"(90mm) and the silencer alone is 12"(305mm) long.

he sells them with 2 1/4 ; 2 1/2 and 3 inch tubing,
i m wondering now what size tubing would be nice for my 2276;
was thinking for 2 1/2...
