Thats my first post here. I would like to get your suggestion.
I will built a 1600 cc combo with pair of webers 40s.

I do not knowe which heads would be better to use. Firstly, I think about heads from Darren Gurrola.

But I do not knowe which one with pair of 40s -  L3 heads or L5 heads from DRD will be better.
Why I consider L5. I would like to gain about 90 horse power engine withe the 1643 cc cylinders and pistons.
Ehxaust, which I bought has a diameter  35 mm and 38 mm for heat exchanger.
Also, I could use them (l5) in a futere when I will decide to built something bigger like 1915 cc.
But I am not sure about that. Maybe L3 to 1600 cc combo are better..
I also thinking about ratio rockers 1.25.
And last thing, pistons and cylinders with a 87 mm diameter (1641 cc slip in). Is it really worth use them in this combo or better stay with 1585 cc.
What you think, what is your opinion?
I use my vw from time to time, not very often.

Thank you.

If you are going to buy new heads, and you are wondering what pistons and cylinders to buy, I am guessing you have a short block but nothing else?

Personally, I would order the heads already cut for bigger cylinders, then build the 1915cc motor straight off. It will mean getting the case bored out but that's not a major job. Then you can make use of the L5 heads from the off.

Yes, I have a short block in good condition, but I cant bore them beacouse here I do not have a man who could make it. Thats wha I decided to built at the moment mouse motor (trying to reach 90 hp).

My heads and pistons are overheated and I have to change them. Thats why I tkinking about L3 or L5. (L5 in my opinion could be better: more power and I could use them with bore short block in a future, and nowdays with 1643 combo).

If yoy know your heads and pistons have been overheated then you should take a very close look at the crank,
rods and case once again. Most likely the case have been damaged by the heat as well.  Don't forget to get
the rods, flywheel, crank and pulley balanced othervise a 90 hp 1600 cc engine will be very short lived Cry

And last thing, pistons and cylinders with a 77 mm diameter (1641 cc slip in). Is it really worth use them in this combo or better stay with 1585 cc.

77 mm pistons and cylinders are from a 1300 cc, 1500 cc is 83 mm. 1641 cc is 87 mm.
