what happened to Tayco Madness?
Was repainted in Bugpack colours, raced by Duncan & Nuss in late 80s/90s and then went to Japan, I believe...

I'm assuming that this is the one that got re-painted and came to the UK? Whatever happened to that car? You can't just 'lose' a turbo oval! Cheesy

It was sold to France, repainted and was rebuilt as a more serious Pro-Stock style car. It came across to Avon Park at least once, with a turbo motor.

When Mark Osbourne did the deal to buy the car from the De Coppen brothers, he was raving on about how they had built a new engine for it, and fitted it in a customer's car, then taken it to the track where it had run 'nines'. The De Coppens even faxed over a timing slip to 'prove' it. When the car arrived in the UK, the roll cage hadn't even been bolted down properly and the engine (which had supposedly run 'nines') still had clean exhaust ports and paint on the barrels etc. It had never even been fired. They spent almost an entire weekend trying to get the thing to run but all it could do was pop and fart its way down the track. So much for dealing with 'Asian Boys Racing' (the slogan on the side of the car!). Grin)

Was that the silver Yacco car? Vaguely remember some French racers coming over in the mid 90's - I didn't get into VWs til early 1995 (I was only 17 then!) but in that year I went to Avon Park a few times so I might have seen it without even knowing!

Owned by a photographer, Jim Kelso. I saw it run at Phoenix. As far as i know, Shutterbug is still about and comes out for nostalgia racing.

My ex father-in-law is Chuck Finders - one the the Gasser Legends.

He was apart of the Stone/Woods/Cook car, and built many Willy's cars. He built cars for John Mazmanian - Jr. Thompson & etc., and also raced alot of cars himself.  In 1977 at Great Lakes Dragway, he was driving a Monza Funny car - he crashed - hit the guard rail 3 times - the 3rd time it severed his right leg so bad, he had to get it removed.  But he kept on going.  Don Garlits mentioned it in his book he wrote.

I got to listen to many cool stories & saw alot of cool photos of all the cars he built & raced, and was apart of.

He still has a shop in Ohio, and I believe is still doing what he does best - building cars!
