It's old school for a reason

« on: April 30, 2008, 15:52:10 pm »

I've been offered a gearbox by a guy who bought a car that he's now splitting.

The box is for sale, along with some other parts and  all he knows is that its a rancho super street box thats done 300 mlies but doesn't know what in it or what the axles that are attached are.

How can you tell what gears, diff etc are in their boxes without splitting it open.

Are they stamped on the case?

Also is there any way of identifying race axles  again without taking them out of the axle tubes

Help please!!!

Look at the exposed end of the axle by the threads.  There is usually some ID stampings.
