You know Russell, tough to say. There was so little press given to cars in Flordia during the '70s. Ralph has a lot of photos, albeit bad ones at that, of the car when it was done, but he has a lot of detail photos of Billy Mitchell's Thunder Bug chassis, which this one was made from. Billy Mitchell DID drive this car as well. Now the car shown above in gold and custom paint (with 12 spoke wheels), was the first car, and the one that Billy drove against Darrell Vittone at the U.S. Nationals. This car (#2) now has a lot of correct parts on it: Empi globe manifolds, Deano pump, sump, block-off plate, linkage pieces, Empi GT valve covers, DDS shifter, DDS rear wheels, etc. This is a tube axle car with Koni shocks, 4-link rear end with Koni adjustables.... no torsion housing, hence the ultra light weight. This car was also known as "Tea Time" and ran the NHRA Winternationals and won class. I found some great Jere photos of it last night. A lot of history here, especially with the Billy Mitchell connection! Ralph did his homework well.

Zach,

The black tilt body without lettering looks to be the Mike Dennis car. I saw this car at an early bug in and looked it over closely. I am not sure who supplied the shot above but it looks like the same car as Dennis the Menace.

Agreed. Not the same car as the Buzzin Bee though.

The plain black flip-body car could well be Dennis The Menace, as it has rear torsion bars still, and Buzzin Bee didn't have them.
