I don't think the words "inexpensive" and California Cabernet go in the same sentence together.  We drink lots of Rhone varieties (more bang for the buck), Pinot Noir and Zinfandel (the red kind) then Cab for that reason.  With the Central Coast a few short hours away, there is much to choose from.  The best bang for the buck we've enjoyed lately was Grenache from Beckmen Vineyards (Santa Ynez Valley...just north of Santa Barbara)...nice with food and nice to guzzle  Roll Eyes Shocked Grin
