As my pedal assembly went missing at some stage I need a new one. Also I have no throttle pedal hinge on the pan either.

So I was thinking either put a stock assembly on and try to find a hinge to weld on for the throttle or go for a hydraulic clutch setup.

What is available that works in a bug? I know Bernie sells the Neal ones without the throttle pedal. Is there anything suitable with all 3 pedals on?

All you need to do is add some kind of "roller" to the STOCK throttle rod for the moon pedal to act on - a skateboard whee and bearing l works perfectly

Thanks for that, certainly looks like it would be a decent option. Now all I have to do is find a pedal assembly. My car is a 67 so I think the later one with the throttle combined is correct.

That looks like the set up i need for the race car

How does it perform, is it 'snappy' or quite smooth? I already have a bearing with roller skate wheel but would prefer the look/feel of a pedal!

Glad you like them guys - Me and my friend gav (G77) cam up with this set up - it works PERFECTLY - the throttle pedal is SOOOOOOOOOOOO smooth

I will try and post a pic soon but all you need to do is remove the ORIGINAL vw plastic roller from the rod (keep the little clip) Then put the skate wheel/bearing in its place and refit the clip. Then bolt the moon pedal to the floorpan just where the original pedal hinged (may need some grinding to remove the old tabs) Make sure you spend some time getting this placement RIGHT.

You can also drill a smalll hole in the bottom left hand corner of the moon pedal and "tap" it for an M8 thread - then get fit a M8 grub screw - this now means you can ADJUST the angle of the moon pedal so its PERFECT for you style of driving

I have the same setup Lee!!

I do however find the pedal very snappy - I think this is my linkages fault though!

another tip for early cars is to use the Later style "Flexible" throttle cable from a 70's bug.

Also make sure the cover in the passenger footwell is not bent/tight and restricting movment - then finally check where the cable leaves the chassis at the rear and make sure there are NO restriction

Right for a start I have to give Props to Gav (G77) for coming up with this idea - Sorry dude 

Now thats out the way there are a couple of things I forgot:

1 - if you have an EARLY pedal assembly you will need to add a short length of theaded bar or a bolt to the throttle rod to mount the skate wheel/bearing

2 - if you have a LATE pedal assembly you can slide the skate wheel/bearing straight over the original rod and still use the original retaining clip

3 - YES this is the VW type that MOON sells

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic's guys - hope this helps -the moon pedal is removed so you can see the Skate wheel - you just simply bolt the moon pedal in front of this "roller"
