He was killed in a big explosion in qualifying today. Top Fuel funny car. His car exploded about half track and the body blew off then he went straight into the wall at the far end of the runoff. Estimated speed on impact 300 mph. Terrible.

Scott Kalitta. This sucks! Scott was a drag racer thru and thru. Although I never got to know him personally, my dad did. My heart goes out to the entire Kalitta family as well as all those who lost a great friend. Glenn Gaskey
