These are being done by Martin Bott at http://www.bugat5speed.de/  . This guy makes some beautiful pieces for fitting various porsche transmissions to the aircooled VW chassis. 

I'd be happy to test out a set of these  Smiley

Wow they look good, have always loved the idea of twin cam heads and/or 16v heads.
I have seen a bug featured in the mags with the Arao versions but never heard any feedback, also upon internet searches seems arao haven't the best reputation.

Also I would worry about the rocker stress with these.

How will the Bugat5speed ones work? I presume stock cam location is done away with and then the over head cams are driven off the crank pulley via belts?

i also have contact details for a company that havce designed twin spark heads .......  very very good idea Wink

There have been several makers of twin spark heads for the type 1, for use in air planes.

On aero applications the twin spark per cylinder set up is for redundancy. An engine I saw a few years back had the set up (along with a roller crank and a Speedwell oil system amongst other things) but when that went into a car I think it only ran 4 sparks.

I think when Russ Fellows used the Porsche 911 heads on his Type 4 motor he went twin spark, and the red supercharged buggy in Volksworld's letters page a month or two ago from an Australian show looked to have an extra set of plug leads.

There is even a very nice solution for an 12V aircooled engine based on a typ-4 case.
Some Netherlands guys are/were? doing this project along the roots of Ludwig Apfelbeck.
Nice thing about a 3V head is the extra room for the two sparks, and the good flow at the inlet like a 4V head.

If you want 2 spark plugs in an original head ask at CSP . They do this for some comanys

Those are not for a type 1 engine. Neither type 4. According to Martin Bott they will only work on his also to be designed new engine casing.
