You guys had to go buy the worst beer in America? I thought you had better taste than that.

HAHA!! Yep, I read about this, earlier today. Why would such a bier rich history country like Belgium purchase a urine based wannabe company like that is beyond my scope of comprehension. But... to each their own, I suppose. The only good thing that ever came from A.B. were some of their American advertising campaigns. Truly funny. Like... the frogs, the New York accent speaking chameleons, and the "Real American Heros/Geniuses." That's what happens when a company tries to sell crappy substance to the public. They have to convince everyone that drinking that ilk will get the consumer attractive girls, money, and respect.

Bye, bye, A.B. Good riddance. One down, several more to get rid of. If we can get the U.S. bier companies to be required to make quality stuff like Sierra Nevada, Fat Tire Ale, Anchor Steam, etc. life would be much better.

Rant mode status: off.

Celebration mode status: on.

To show my appreciation, I'm gonna go ride my bike down the street to the liquor warehouse and buy a bottle of Chimay Grand Premier. My sympathies to you, Belgium... you didn't deserve this plight.

Same intoxicating effect. I only drink Bud when it is forced on me.

Its simple:  Bud is American, to everyone outside of the U.S. (Belgium, for instance), its now an imported beer.  Much more exotic!

Well, for "shit" beer, Anheiser-Busch sold for 52 BILLION dollars according to today's paper.  Even when converted to Euros, thats a big stack of quid.

Maybe they can buy Coors next and work on improving the quality there.

There is nothing that can help that tripe. The Coors family can rot in hell, as far as I'm concerned. They killed my Dad, then did nothing for my family thereafter. They have that to live with, forever.

Back on topic... hopefully, this bizarre buyout will bring better Belgian bier(s) to the U.S. Lord knows we need it. The mainstream bile they pawn off to America is disgusting.

I heard they're planning a run of Bud cans with Chimay in them.  Going to be some surprised Jim Bobs out there.

I never knew you could get Chimay in the US, its hard enough to get it here in the UK

Also I presume Chimay is still independant? And not part of IntBev?

Lets hope you guys dont get Stella forced onto you as thats tripe too!

Chimay has been available in the U.S. for quite some time... thank God. I've seen Stella Artois since 2006, here. Back then, it was hard to find. Now, it's everywhere. Even in our grocery stores. They're really trying to push it with advertising, lately. It's okay for a light... still better than any of our light stuff. To my knowledge, Chimay is still independent. I don't think they're part of IntBev... yet. Hope it stays that way, too.

If you like a light beer Leffe Blonde hits the spot for me or maybe a Hoegaarden if Leffe isn't available.

Ya know, there's an awful lot of beer snobbery going on around here.  Y'all ought'a be thankful you have any beer.  There's starving children in third-world countries that would be happy for whatever beer they could get.
