fyi I choose the scissor lift as I wanted it to disappear when not in use. Electric impact also helpful.

Seen this one on sale for around $1,050 us. I got mine used for $700. http://www.completehydraulic.com/tcpl6.htmlBefore I made the shallow pit I had 2x10s to get my very low car over the lift.

MG have you noticed this is a VW group? Sorry if i am not impressed with your insipid attempt at impressing us with your Phallic Extension up on a deathtrap lift. Why not go impress your racecar buddies with your broken toy somewhere else?

I've seen those for sale at an event in Belgium and they look quite useful, but also a bit dangerous. If I were to be working on a car on that lift I would definitely add some extra protection... btw. There are also people that DO like that phallic extension on top of the lift. But I rather see them in action on the circuit...

For us poor folk, this is what I use Yep, same here. I don't want a lift at my house. You're right... it's what normal people use. Poor and/or normal. That other thing's a joke and looks rather dangerous. I prefer the old fashion proven safer method.

I use the lift Mike showed in the first picture at work sometimes. Really don't see why it would be dangerous? It is mechanically locked and doesn't go very high... it's however not made to crawl under the lift and work on the car. Very usefull on a VW as you don't reaally need to be on the underside when doing most jobs.

We use this kind of lifts every day at work, they are not dangerous in any way. Perfect for the home garage.
Vulgaris (or to the user that might hide behind this alter ego) please spare us from this kind of bullshit.

anyothers? Would of been nice to have during my first 30 years of air cooled cars. Hey Mike ! I have the Snap-On equivalent of that lift. Makes life much easier. i used to have the snap-on equivalent too . as long as we used the right connecting pieces we could just take one side up , like leaving the rear on the floor and taking the front up to 45 degrees . now used by a bodyshop to raise low cars enough to work on lower panels without laying down !!! i remember having a problem once , late at night , working on my own project . car raised right in front of workshop doors , and for some reason i couldnt get the lift to come down !!! i used a big ratchet strap iirc
