fyi I choose the scissor lift as I wanted it to disappear when not in use. Electric impact also helpful. |

Seen this one on sale for around $1,050 us. I got mine used for $700. http://www.completehydraulic.com/tcpl6.htmlBefore I made the shallow pit I had 2x10s to get my very low car over the lift. |

I've seen those for sale at an event in Belgium and they look quite useful, but also a bit dangerous. If I were to be working on a car on that lift I would definitely add some extra protection... btw. There are also people that DO like that phallic extension on top of the lift. But I rather see them in action on the circuit...  |

For us poor folk, this is what I use Yep, same here. I don't want a lift at my house. You're right... it's what normal people use. Poor and/or normal. That other thing's a joke and looks rather dangerous. I prefer the old fashion proven safer method. |

It is mechanically locked and doesn't go very high... it's however not made to crawl under the lift and work on the car.
Very usefull on a VW as you don't reaally need to be on the underside when doing most jobs.

Makes life much easier. i used to have the snap-on equivalent too . as long as we used the right connecting pieces we could just take one side up , like leaving the rear on the floor and taking the front up to 45 degrees . now used by a bodyshop to raise low cars enough to work on lower panels without laying down !!! i remember having a problem once , late at night , working on my own project . car raised right in front of workshop doors , and for some reason i couldnt get the lift to come down !!! i used a big ratchet strap iirc |
