Ugh, keep me away.  I have to consciously ignore r/c cars.  Still have my originaly Wild Willy at my parents house, someday it will come back out.

Good friend of mine way back when had a Grasshopper.

I first got into RC cars back then - I was 14 years old in 1984, and the Grasshopper was my first RC car.. I remember buying it from Tower Hobbies through their mail order catalog.  I ended up hopping it up with a 540 motor, then another low wind motor after that with a bigger battery pack... I abused the hell outta that thing and it kept ticking.  I ended up moving up to a Kyosho Optima (chain drive awd)... I had a number of different cars and trucks over the years - the recent years, I got into nitro RC (on and off road).. micro rc (1/18 scale) .. .they're a blast, but sure get pricey ... just like full scale cars - the faster you wanna go, the more expensive they get Smiley .. I have wanted to get another Grasshopper for a couple years now though, just for nostalgic reasons if nothing else.  Very cool photos, thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately bills for the big cars mean I can't buy the N.O.S Wild One that's on e-bay at the moment and I've given up on finding a Kyosho Rocky which is probably a good thng, nice collection Frank, should cover a couple of bottles of nitrous...
