Bonham was the man - after going to Day on the Green in Oakland in 1976 or 1977 - what a performer - What a show - Clear winner

I've heard both Page and Plant say that he would sometimes be set up out in the hall.
That's on DVD. Yes they did. For you air drummers out there: Kashmir seems to be so monotone. Start checking his beats, breaks and the groove he puts into it. Its just INSANE SIMPLICITY yet so complicated. that's an accurate summaton of Bonham in Kashmir, if you listen, there are spots where you expect a powerful crash cymbal, but it never comes, but IT WORKS. Yes, that plodding "seemingly" simplistic beat fits the "desert" imagery of the song, and being as plodding and simple as it sounds it actually seems difficult More good drummers Bill Ward (Black Sabbath of early 70's.... watch 1970 live stuff, he is out of control!) Stewart Copeland (The Police)

Bonham knew intuitively where to add "nothing". Roger Waters talks of that being one of the hardest things to do as a musician.

I do believe my favorite Bonham effort is Achillies' Last Stand. Some killer fills, particularly the one around 2:27 (if I remember that correctly).
