It's a Fisker Karma. It's a plug-in hybrid too. It's enough for me to break my no-hybrid rule... if I could afford it! www.fiskerautomotive.com

For the Swedes, here are some pics of my good friend Kaspar's 1985 240"R". He is a Field Tech Specialist with VCNA and was gifted a brand new 300hp crate S60R engine that was slated to be scrapped. Since he had a clean 240T he thought, why not?... [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] Since it was originally mounted in a transverse position, he had to use a 6 cylinder oil sump and section it to use on this 5 cylinder. It has all the S60 fuel management and emission control systems in place, and was able to get it past the EPA and registered in California! He used nearly all Volvo parts for the conversion. Very well engineered to the point that it looks original and factory made. I'm not sure which transmission he used, but I think it is a 5 speed manual version sold in the European markets. His first experience at Willow Springs Raceway told him he needs to upgrade the brakes next!!!

NICE Volvo 242 Turbo!
Rick, I haven't been to one of my Volvo club outtings/meetings in a long time. Does Dave still have his gorgeous white 245 Turbo estate?

I'm not sure but don't think so. He is too busy and on the road all the time. Last time I talked to Dave he was ready to pass the torch on to the next guy. You interested Mark??

Is he in the SoCal Volvo Club Chapter?
I'm not sure but don't think so. He is too busy and on the road all the time. Last time I talked to Dave he was ready to pass the torch on to the next guy. You interested Mark?? HAHA!! Bruce... if that's aimed at me, no. Heck, I can barely keep up with the D.K.K. stuff and that's merely a mid life crisis reunion party that was put on pause for almost three decades. But I'm stoked and proud to be a part of it. Because to me... it's the true essence of what VWs and Cal Look is all about. Translated: WALL-TO-WALL FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dating back to some time in the nineties, we needed 13 people to start the So Cal chapter of the V.C.O.A. (Volvo Club Of America) and I was one of those people. We all met at a Volvo dealer in Burbank and it came to fruition, thankfully. Back when I kept the wagon fully (read: engine, undercarriage, interior, etc.) detailed, I used to be much more active in that club and forum. I don't know if any of the old members are still there, besides Dave (Prez). Even so... if they'd remember me.
But they're fun cars, easy to make go fast, and very safe. Nothing like having a easy car to work on that's good for at least 500,000+ miles on the original engine. They tease me for mine... only has 300,000 on the factory engine from '87. Same goes for my other car group, but the only one I want to stay active in, is D.K.K. Out all of the car clubs I've been a member of over the years... it's not only my first, but my all time favorite. And I'm honored to be a DEEK for life.
Carry on with the non-VW fest, please. This is a great thread.

Who needs chrome anyway Funny how fragile it looks like considering the horsepower numbers and when standing next to the car it's like standing next to a kite
