Thanks, Nico. Some cool pics on that site, as well. The event was beyond fun... in between some of the races, they would play the background music to Le Mans (the movie) over all of the speakers throughout the track. Which made the atmosphere even more surreal. I was only nine years young when the movie was released... but at least I had a taste of almost being there, that weekend. Especially when they were running that group of cars. That's one five day weekend I will never forget. SO cool seeing Roger Grago, Ben Salazar, and Don Metz stop by our pit area to hang out.

Nice! What a cool thing to be able to do Mark.   Oh and to actually hear and see the 917 run again....  makes me weak in the knees.

Cool Cool straight pipe, I could live with this, from the S board.
"From 1968 until just a few months ago Steve B. in Ohio had the car.
It has been in his collection and is a time capsule.
Dealer demo car for less than a year. Raced for a few years. Stored for 43 years.

Funny that you would gravitate towards that car, Died... it was at this year's Rennsport Reunion and it belongs to Roger Grago. You, my friend, have good taste in cars. I was so stoked to not only see Roger in Monterey (up north), but when he told me that he drove that car up, it made me smile even more.

Sorry, Died... I didn't get a chance to talk with the owner. But the badge caught my attention, also. Many of those early 911 cars are regulars at Cars & Coffee... I'll try to find out, if I see it again.

perhaps but not likely.  Wink
Here is my guess and a snap of a 3.2 I had in my 911, before I upgreaded to a 3.6.

Maybe Fred can grab a photo of the engine, might look like this.

Shot this at Cars & Coffee last Saturday. Nice pre-A 356. Tried to line up the Porsche 986 wheel (reflection) inside of the Road America decal.. .but didn't quite nail it.

I called round to see Roger on his birthday three weeks ago and took him out for a drive in his RS clone:

Incidentally, it's now wearing a new licence plate which reads 73 RS GT...

 Cool

SO much WIN!

His yellow Vanagon (background) is also cool. Earlier this year, I caught up to him on the 405 frwy. and we were already going at a pretty good clip. He looked over, smiled, then something happened that more Vanagons should be capable of... a beautiful sound emitted from the exhaust and the box on wheels accelerated away from me like I was parked. SCENIC! We talked about that day when we were at Rennsport.

Great photos, Christoph! We had a wonderful time meeting you guys and spending time together, that weekend.

And to keep the theme of this thread alive... a video that makes me smile, cry, and offers a little hope that I'll locate my '66 Bug, some day.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/bz-nO6WvOYw" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/bz-nO6WvOYw</a>

My best friend, Bob, had a car like the one in the video during the late eighties. Wish he would've kept it. Nothing quite like a factory built hot rod.

That would be very cool and hopefully, I can make that trip some day.

Died, I prefer coupes over Targas... but that's a nice one. Like you said, just bring down the front end to the proper stance.

This was a great morning at Cars & Coffee with the R Gruppe.
