In my opinion, the last good album Metallica put out was the Black album. Every album since has been steadily worse. I remember back in 1996, I was a senior in high school and I was so excited to get their new album (Load) that I ditched school so I could get to the record store when they opened. I listened to it a couple times and I was so disappointed that I threw it out of my bug's window. The only exception has been the S&M album, but it was mostly different versions of older material. Bear in mind that this is just my opinion, though.

I have not listened to Sell-out-ica since ......And Justice For All. After that album, I might as well be listening to Brittney Spears or Green Day.

The first three are my favourites, still remember the day in 1983-4 when me and my best friend went to buy some vinyl records in Helsinki, we had only enough money left to buy two new albums so we decided that he'll buy Kill'em All and I bought Twisted Sister's Stay Hungry and we can swap and tape them, crap, I got the shortest straw I like the black album but since so many people who are not otherwise into metal like it proof the old theory of what attracts flies Load and Re-load where huge disappointments for me too.

Load and Re-Load were like Guns N' Roses with the Illusion albums - too much filler. One 70 minute album would have been fine from each band! St Anger was disappointing, and quite telling that when I saw them headline Download festival in 2006 they only played Frantic and that was all! They did play Master Of Puppets from start to finish, in order!

The Culture Show on BBC 2 did a special on Metallica last night (Sunday 31st) - it'll probably be available to view again on the bbc.co.uk website on the iPlayer!

iPlayer may be blocked to UK IP addresses only. I listened to Cyanide on the Metallica website yesterday - sounds good and you can tell Rick Rubin is behind the desk. Thank God they have got rid of the drum sound used on St.Anger. http://www.metallica.com/index.asp?item=601167

I bought it today, and listened to it a couple of times. Not bad, it sounds better than St.Anger and it's nice to have solos back, thought they are too short in my opinion. But it's a nice album for sure.

I haven't listened to 107.7 The Bone since I moved from the Bay Area 5 years ago. Lamont and Tonelli + Sully in the morning When I moved to Oregon from the Bay Area they were on 92.3 KSJO. The last time I went down there 92.3 was a Mexican station. After 30 years playing rock, I couldn't believe it.
