good eye, Jim.. yeah, it did have a fender bender on the front right .. that musta been enough to make a grown man come to tears.  The cars were gorgeous .. people watching was almost as entertaining as watching/listening to the cars.. you could tell who the people were who owned some of the cars - they just had money dripping off of them.. it was comical.  The blue Miura was pretty, and sounded pretty good too.. the red one was a stunning example of an incredible restoration.. the paint on it was absolutely phenomenal.  There were a couple Carrera GT3's there ... gorgeous.  But my favorite car of the weekend was probably this one..

As far as my favorite photos of the weekend.. probably these:

"Ding-Ding" - we have a winner! Yeah - it was a work of art.

Yeah, the guy driving the Spyder kit was really cool - he just had it built last year, and said the engine dyno'd at just over 230hp... in a car that weighs what, 1800 lbs if that?

Update - just found out that the red/orange Miura was broadsided when a drunk (woman) driver ran a police stop-sign at Pebble Beach yesterday (the day after I took the photo)

Yeah, back in high school one guy's dad had one, they crashed it through the back of the garage and down into the woods...er, wait...nevermind.

Sucks about the orange Miura...really.

Thanks for the compliments on the photos, guys.

As far as hearing about the Lambo - one of the guys in my Miata club (stop laughing!) was also there this weekend and went to the Concours event at Pebble Beach.. he mentioned it on our club website.

Terrible. Bad weekend to have your Miura out, judging by the blue car's FR fender and the nightmare with the SV. That's really too bad... and it was an SV too... the bad-ass, if you will, of the Miuras

That picture with the "PORSCHE" engine dressed in carbon fibre fan shrouding and IDF Webers, the looks awfully suspicious. I've never see a Porsche 4 cyl with valve covers (and intake manifolds) shaped like those.... seems like somebody dressed a VW motor to look like a 4 cammer?  Roll Eyes

do you know if the occupants of the Miura were ok?

I couldn't tell you anything about the "Porsche" engine .. sorry mang.. as far as the occupant(s) of the Miura - not sure.. haven't heard any details yet.. I tried searching for an article online about it, but couldn't find anything.  The car was flawless too.  That's what really drew me to it - the paint was like glass, with no imperfections anywhere, and it was immaculate.

Someone is making those valve covers for the kit car Porsche guys. I saw a pair on ebay a couple months ago. Not cheap, but they look like very nice pieces.

I have been thinking about quitting my job at Hooters, but I really love the shorts... .

Frank - trust me, I'd LOVE to do photography as a job.. it's just that it's really hard to get into as a career.  There are a lot of 'professional' photographers out there, and most people who appreciate good photos don't want to pay for them .. I've been thinking about a way to do something for some extra cash.. now it's just a matter of putting my thoughts into action..

Here is an ad for the fake valve covers.
It kind of upsets me to see so many fakes, repros and kit cars at Monterey.

I thought all the muscle cars were a bit boring.
Monterey 10 years ago must of been much more euro.
The RM auction had some nice cars, check the results.
http://www.rmauctions.com/AuctionResults.cfm?SaleCode=MO08&SortBy=HB&View=Normal&Category=Cars&Currency=#
A 57 oval window sold for 17k. Smiley
In the time it took me to order a vodka tonic this car http://www.rmauctions.com/CarDetails.cfm?SaleCode=MO08&CarID=r308&Currency= started bidiing at 2m went up 250k a bid till it sold at 4.1m.
A very nice Cal Spyder replica built on the same platform sold for 214k, I'd have that in a heartbeat considering the real deal is in the millions.
http://www.rmauctions.com/CarDetails.cfm?SaleCode=MO08&CarID=r249&Currency=
Now this was more along the BJ auction lines..

Russo and steel auction n the round was not so elegant...
http://www.russoandsteele.com/monterey_info.html

I heard Bonhams had some very high end cars too.
