I will maybe soon buy a set of gauges for my vw, and I'm wondering what do I need ? A tachometer of course, and I will add it 3 others gauges. I was thinking about oil pressure, oil temp, and voltmeter or ampermeter. Is that ok to look for a vw engine ?
For the moment I have an og engine but I will put a bigger one one day, and I'd like to buy the full set of gauges at the same time, in case that they change the design of them.
Thx Wink.

I have the same setup and it does the job on a 2179 IDA engine...  I have a voltgauge.

Oil temp and pressure are the most important I guess.

Thanks for your reply, I was not so wrong  Cheesy.
Some choose amperemeter instead of voltmeter, I always heard that it's better to keep an eye on amps than on volts, what do you think ?

I'd say cylinder head temp is more important than volts or Amps....If you have charging issues, you'll know it without needing the gauge to tell you!

I agree with that.  The indicator light on the speedo is all you need for the electrical system.
