Bill, do you or anyone else have pics of your orange Bug? Those were the two cars that you were driving when I first met you in the early '80s. Seeing that pic brings back great memories.

is it a how to guitar book KS?
Funny you should mention that, as I want to learn to play the guitar. My nephew is sponsored by Fender and can get me a storming deal on a new Strat...
I still laugh that my band at school beat Tris' band in Battle of the Bands competition! Watching him play now, I'm pretty sure he could wipe the floor with most!
And if you want a Fender it has to be pre-CBS only (pre-65).
Back to Bill's car - the coral car is one of my all time fav's - so a picture to add to the thread...

I think I've heard of him. Doesn't he own a German Folks car?

I dunno, I have a bit of a soft spot for the large headstock strats!

Late '65 and on for the "big" headstocks to about '80. Not a huge fan of the 3 bolt neck myself, so prefer the pre-CBS models.
It's all a bit late v. early model

I've got a bit of a "bastard" strat at home - all eBay bits - early 80's Japanese Fender body and electrics with a rosewood fingerboard neck off a chinese Squire strat from the late 90's. Four bolt neck but the larger headstock, and the Squire decal changed for a '65-'67 Fender one, then re-finished in shiny gloss cellulose laquer rather than the horrible satin finish it originally came in. Looks quite convincing from a few feet away but never going to fool anyone who knows what they're looking at!
Plays really well too, and the heaviest, thickest strat body I've ever seen!

That sounds like quite a concoction! But a good way of making a custom model. I've used a variety of Fenders over the years from Jags to Jazzmasters (still one of my favourites), but have returned to the Gibson fold again with a Les Paul Standard. Simple and effective
Oh and so we stay on topic...

I for one would like to see more pictures of his oval. That car really got me stoked at Showdown 7!
