Hey Mike, next time your at Bug-In 32, stop by for a beer Someone say beer?...Bug-In 32 seems like it was "pre-lounge" and I didn't really know many people then. Funny story, at least to me...we were at the Bug-In, checkin' out the scene, cars, swap, etc., and I suddely stopped and thought "something's missing, where's the DKP cars?" Sure enough, in the drag pits! Boy, was I relieved! I'd love to find one of those for my '67 Yeah, me too. Most of the other Empi stuff I can take or leave, but I loooove those big-button wheels.

that's Mark Thurber and Darrell Vittone on the left.
Off-topic, but what does Mark Thurber do today? (From the FAT founders, everyone knows Ron and wasn't Aaronson's 911 featured in 911 Porsche&World? So at least 2/3 of them are into VWs&Porsches still.)

He drives a black '01 Audi S4 with all the go-fast shit you can put on it. Aronson has never had a 911 that I can recall..., your probably thinking of Jim Holmes and his sano '66 that were in Porsche World.

What happened to the SS car? Wasn't it for sale a few years back? As I am sure someone in the UK was thinking about buying it, but they had a car built in the end.
Rob.
Yep, they thought about this one, and Small Wonder too, then decided to get a SS-type pan car built, which became a full chassis turbo car! So, what did happen to Greg Brinton's SS car? Did it sell? SS car sold..............and way to cheap! I believe it is in Japan?

So I was thinking about this tonight, and with the increase in DEEKs around here since then, does anyone have any more stories/insight/hearsay from back in the Grauman days? Still my favorite car by far, I think.

I told Keith everything he knows but not everything I know
HAHA!! What you did there, Glenn, I see it.
Good luck on getting Greg on here... we'll most likely hear from Meredith or Glenn first, regarding your question, Mike.

Greg told me the race car went to Japan many years ago. Greg made this black car what it is, (5 speed, motor, etc etc etc etc etc etc..........) and has kept it true to it's roots. It is a true California classic with original paint and lots of goodies added by Greg to make it a bitchin survivor car. Have him tell yah about his days traveling the US beating V8's every day and setting NHRA records in that and Roger Crawfords car.
The guy is a witch.
P.S. he looks pretty good in that bikini on the first page.

the photo in KS's performance handbook is the best shot of this car IMHO. that one really portrays the layers and layers of deep paint and a bad-ass stance just ace! don't have it on my PC though, otherwise i'd post it...

It will take an act of congress to get Greg on here............he can barely use his phone. The 67 is pretty close to its roots except it doesn't have a hair dryer on it. We had a great time racing the SS car before it got all pretty, it started out with an 1835 w/ 48's, 1350 LBS with me in it and ran deep into the 12's with the little motor. The motors got bigger and the fun got smaller when we took it off the street.

Greg's SS car was sold and went to Japan, as for Greg, the VW drag seen is a distance memory, he spends his free time cleaning Horse stables for his wife and if he has any other spare time an occasional lunch with his friends:)

Greg's car is my nr.1 cal-looker of all time ! First Volksworld that I bought was from summer '97 with a review of a black '67 sedan, and that black paint is very nice and it was a reason to paint my bug black ! I still remember - 217hp engine amd interior done some 25 (now it would be 35) years ago...cool ! As I live in Croatia, that was my first introduction to California Look, and from then, I'm a regular Volksworld and Ultra VW reader and subscriber...

Greg told me that his car has the oil cooler mounts that I made when I worked for Griener at Auto Haus in Orange in the early eighties. The cooler is mounted under the transaxle. OLD SCHOOL
